Our Sustainability Commitment

Creating boundaries in your workday matters. So does creating boundaries around what we put into the world.

OFF was designed to help you transition from work to life with more intention. It felt equally important to produce this journal with the same level of care and consideration for the environment we all share.

Every decision in the creation of this journal reflects a commitment to minimizing environmental impact while maintaining the quality and durability you deserve. From the paper stock to the ink, from the binding to the board, we chose materials and partners that prioritize both performance and planetary health.

Sustainable Materials, Thoughtful Production

The pages you write on are printed using soy-based inks, which are safer for humans and the environment than traditional petroleum-based alternatives. Soy ink produces more vibrant colors, releases fewer volatile organic compounds, and makes the journal easier to recycle when it eventually reaches the end of its life.

The paper stock in your OFF journal is FSC certified, meaning it comes from responsibly managed forests that meet rigorous environmental and social standards. FSC certification ensures that forests remain forests, supporting biodiversity, protecting indigenous rights, and maintaining the ecosystem services we all depend on.

The cover board is made from recycled Eska board, a premium material manufactured from 100% secondary fiber. This high-quality German material combines environmental responsibility with the structural integrity needed for a journal you will use daily for months.

Planting Trees, Restoring Forests

Our printer, MCRL Overseas Group, is a proud sponsor of Trees for the Future, a United Nations World Restoration Flagship organization recognized as one of the best large-scale ecosystem restoration efforts on the planet.

Trees for the Future works with farming families across Sub-Saharan Africa, training them in regenerative agroforestry techniques that restore degraded land, increase food security, and provide sustainable incomes. Since 1989, they have planted over 350 million trees with more than 61,000 farmers, restoring over 41,000 hectares of land while capturing significant amounts of atmospheric carbon.

The UN World Restoration Flagship designation is awarded only to initiatives that embody the highest standards of ecosystem restoration and demonstrate measurable progress toward the UN's 2030 environmental goals. Each year, MCRL plants trees through this partnership, supporting both environmental restoration and community empowerment in regions where climate challenges are most severe.

Your Journal, Your Values

If you have chosen this journal, you likely care about living with intention, creating meaning, and being thoughtful about the choices you make. We designed OFF to align with those values, not just in its content, but in how it comes into the world.

This is not a perfect product. No manufactured item can claim zero environmental impact. But it is a considered one, made with respect for the materials, the planet, and the people who will use it to reflect, disconnect, and transition into the parts of life that matter most.
